In 2023, Dr. Ken Rothaus, a Harvard-educated, board-certified plastic surgeon, and Ilan Szekely, an accomplished entrepreneur and Harvard MBA, founded Telo Labs, a New York-based aesthetic clinic. The longtime collaborators felt it was important to address a pervasive issue they saw in medspas and doctors’ offices: these were businesses designed to support the needs of owners and doctors, not the patients.
Rothaus and Szekely founded Telo Labs as a thoughtful solution to this issue, providing a patient-first approach that prioritizes excellent aesthetics and elevated service.
A board-certified plastic surgeon practicing in Manhattan and Westchester, Dr. Rothaus has earned a reputation for producing exceptional results for his patients.
Over the past three decades, Rothaus has become known as an expert in minimally-invasive procedures and non-surgical treatments, and is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. A graduate of Yale College and Harvard Medical School, he’s a frequent contributor to medical texts and scientific papers including Hospital Smarts (the book he co-authored), and a patent-holder for his research in plastic surgery.
Rothaus currently maintains medical privileges at New York Presbyterian Hospital as well as Weill Cornell Hospital for Special Surgery, and is committed to his passion for educating fellow medical providers. He’s been featured on The View and Good Morning America as well as in publications like Vogue, GQ, and The New York Times.
Before teaming up with Dr. Rothaus to launch Telo Labs, Mr. Szekely was part of the senior investment team at a large private equity firm, where he covered healthcare, consumer, and other industries.
During his investment career, Szekely served on several boards of directors, including a skincare manufacturing company, where he developed a passion for skincare and longevity.
A graduate of both Yale University and Harvard Business School, Szekely previously founded a non-profit called Plan Pais that aims to connect the Venezuelan diaspora.
